We’re turning our lights off for an hour on Friday to celebrate Earth Hour!

What is Earth Hour?

From Earth HourEarth Hour is a worldwide grassroots movement uniting people to protect the planet, and is organised by WWF. Engaging a massive mainstream community on a broad range of environmental issues, Earth Hour was famously started as a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia in 2007. Since then it has grown to engage more than 7000 cities and towns worldwide, and the one-hour event continues to remain the key driver of the now larger movement.

When is Earth Hour?

Saturday 28 March between 8.30PM and 9.30PM in your local time zone.

We’ve celebrated in the past, but this year we’ve decided to move date night from Wednesday to Saturday to do a little something different. Normally our date nights revolve around a movie over the colder months, but I’m thinking we’ll pull out the candles and maybe play some board/card games this week. The weather won’t be nice enough (and the sun won’t be up) or else we’d totally spend the hour in our backyard enjoying our fire pit.

Not sure how to celebrate? Check out these 10 things to do with the lights off during Earth Hour.
