Need an easy, healthy snack for your next adventure? Try strawberry or peach fruit leather! Delicious, easy to make, and great for the whole family! For the longest time, we had a dehydrator that we didn’t use. I was convinced that dehydrating things was hard. I have no idea why I had this thought in my head, but it was there. And it prevented me from using our dehydrator for months, if not years.

Then one day came along and I bought some fruit leather at the store. I looked at the ingredients, looked at the price, and look at the amount I got and was a little disappointed that I had spent so much on something that I had all of the ingredients for in the house. So the next day, I tried making fruit leather on our dehydrator. Needless to say, I will never ever ever buy fruit leather again. And I use our dehydrator weekly now because it’s my new best friend after my crock pot.
Need an easy, healthy snack for your next adventure? Try strawberry or peach fruit leather! Delicious, easy to make, and great for the whole family! The great thing about fruit leather is how portable it is. During the Summer, we spend a lot more time away from the home. Hiking, camping, UTV rides, road trips, visiting family – we’re constantly on the go. And I hate always eating out because we’re away from home so I usually try to pack food with us. For the most part, I try to pack healthier snacks and these are perfect for that. It’s a great way to make sure you’re getting your fruits for the day in a no-hassle, easy to eat way.
Fruit-Leather-with-Green-Works-and-Cutting-BoardGreen-Works-Fruit-LeatherStrawberries and peaches are fruits we regularly have in the house so my first (and favorite so far) flavors of fruit leather are pretty easy to figure out. However, both of these fruits need to be chopped up so the prep time is a little bit longer. So I was really excited to make this fruit leather with the new Green Works Pump ‘N Clean. Since I normally make fruit leather in bigger batches, I like to do a few different flavors at once. This means chopping up different fruit and cleaning up in between to switch to a new fruit.

The Green Works Pump ‘N Clean helped save time and helps eliminate the big mess at the end of the preparation since you can clean while you’re creating. It worked great for a quick clean in between the strawberry and peach fruit leather since it’s food-safe. (Do note though that it’s not meant to be used to clean up after raw meat or raw fish!)

Strawberry and Peach Fruit Leather
Prep Time
15 mins
Cook Time
6 hrs

Ingredients
For The Strawberry Fruit Leather
  • 2 Pints of Strawberries with the tops chopped off
  • 2 Cups of Unsweetened Applesauce
For The Peach Fruit Leather
  • 2 Pints of Peach Slices
  • 2 Cups of Unsweetened Applesauce
Instructions
  1. Combine the fruit and the applesauce in a blender. Blend until smooth.
  2. Split the mixture between two dehydrator trays and smooth out until the mixture has reached the inner and outer edges.
  3. Dehydrate for 6-8 hours or until leathery. Make sure no moisture is left when it's done.
  4. Remove from the tray and lay on a piece of parchment paper approximately the same size. Roll up with the parchment paper in between the fruit leather so it doesn't stick.
  5. Make eight cuts to yield nine fruit leather rolls per tray. Repeat for the second tray.
  6. Store in an airtight container.
Recipe Notes

Each batch yields two Nesco Dehydrator trays worth of fruit leather. If you make both the strawberry and peach fruit leather at once, you'll need four dehydrator trays.
