Packing for a toddler for an all-inclusive vacation doesn’t have to be hard. In fact, traveling with toddlers doesn’t have to feel like mission impossible every time. It’s all about being prepared for the expected and unexpected, plus giving yourself some extra time and patience to get from point A to point B.

When it comes to an all-inclusive vacation though, packing is pretty simple. Plus, the great thing is that if you forget anything, most of it can be bought at an all-inclusive resort. Although somewhat pricey, their gift shops tend to be pretty well-stocked! But there is one thing that we never forget (aside from our passports!) for our all-inclusive trips:

Enfamil® Enfalyte®.

Let me tell you why this is the number one on our list of things to pack for Lily.

This oral electrolyte solution is designed to quickly replace electrolytes and water. Both water and electrolytes can be lost during exercise, on hot days, from vomiting, or from diarrhea due to an illness. This is a LIFESAVER when it comes to traveling, especially to a different country. With the change in diet, days spent on the beach, and the change in schedule – Enfalyte is a must-have.

One of the reasons I love Enfalyte specifically is because it has been trusted by hospitals for over 25 years. Plus, it’s from the maker of Enfamil®, the #1 brand of infant formula recommended by pediatricians. With its clear formulation (no artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners) and it’s two mild flavors (Cherry Splash and Mixed Fruit) – it’s a no-brainer for us.

Just a side note: If you are EVER concerned about dehydration or an illness for your tiny human, please consult your pediatrician. None of this information is intended for diagnosis, curing or prevention of an illness.

Now that we’ve chatted about the super important stuff, let’s finish our list for packing for a toddler so you can move on to counting down the days to your beach trip!

Packing for a Toddler: Gear

Car seat: This is a personal decision you need to make for each trip. Consider the following questions when making your decision:

  • How far is it from the airport to the resort?
  • Will you be taking a taxi to get to the resort?
  • Is it legally required for your child to have a car seat?
  • What is the additional cost with the airline to bring a car seat?

Stroller: Another personal decision for you to make! Consider these questions when deciding if you’ll be bringing the stroller:

  • How big is the resort? Is it necessary for the size?
  • How necessary is a stroller is for any off-resort plans?
  • Does your little one tend to fall asleep in a stroller where it may be beneficial to have something familiar to them?
  • Would a baby carrier be a better option?
  • What is the additional cost with the airline to bring a stroller?

Baby Carrier: If you and your little one enjoy babywearing, a baby carrier is a great option that doesn’t take up much room for packing. It can also be easier than a stroller for maneuvering around the airport with a little one.

If you need a new carrier or are new to babywearing, do it well before the trip so you and baby can make sure it’s the perfect one to bring along.

Packing for a Toddler: Diapers

Diapers: If you’re not going to be close enough to a store to buy some, bring extra! Calculate how many you use in a day, multiply it by all of your travel days, and then add in enough for a few extra days just to be safe.

Wipes: Bring even more extras of these! Wipes can be handy for SO many things so it won’t hurt to have extra of these on your trip. Factor in that your little one’s diet may be changing so you may not be able to count on them being regular.

Packing for a Toddler: Food

Food: All-inclusive resorts have plenty of food so we initially thought not to bring any. But it’s a lot of food that our little one isn’t used to. The change in diet doesn’t always settle well with us and it can easily have the same effect on her. This is why the Enfalyte is so important!

Be sure to bring lots of prepackaged snacks for the airport, airplane, drive to the resort, and for days that you’re there. Especially blander items like crackers. Don’t forget the formula if you’re formula feeding as well.

Water: Check with the resort ahead of time to see if they have sterilized water or the option to get it, especially if you are formula feeding and need it for bottles.

Storage Containers: This is an easy way to store your food for dinner time if you have a picky eater or a great way to grab a couple of snacks for the day at a meal.

Packing for a Toddler: Clothing

Outfits: Whenever we travel, we try to bring an average of two outfits per day plus a couple extra. But if you’re planning on doing laundry while you’re there, you definitely don’t need to bring as many.

Swimsuits: Try to bring at least two swimsuits for your little one. That way if one is wet or is being washed, they’ve still got another pair to play in!

Shoes: Don’t bring new shoes for your trip if you’ll be doing a lot of walking. Be sure they’re functional walking shoes that your little one will feel comfortable in.

Other Items: Pay attention to the highs AND lows. Jackets, pants, and long sleeves are often needed at night. Swim diapers are also a must!

Packing for a Toddler: Everything Else

Sunscreen: Be sure to pack plenty of this, especially if you have a specific one you use for your little one. You most likely will only have one or two choices if you need to buy it at the resort and not all of them carry kid sunscreens.

Toys: Bring a select few that are favorites from home, but don’t overpack! Kids are pretty resourceful in entertaining themselves with everyday items. Plus, the change of scenery is usually entertaining enough.

Important Documents: Make sure to bring your little one’s passport, plane ticket, health insurance card, doctor information (just in case!) and emergency contact information.

Everything Else:  Consider things like nail clippers, blankets, bottles, washable/silicone bibs, baby shampoo/soap, baby lotion, diaper rash ointment, baby pain medication, sunglasses, and sun hats. And don’t forget the Enfalyte!

Phew! I know that was a lot to take in, but packing for a toddler really isn’t that hard if you think about all of the things you might use in a week.

One handy trick we’ve learned in the past? Lay out your suitcases about a week or so before. (Somewhere hidden if you have pets that aren’t fans of you leaving!) Start putting things in there that you know need to go with you. Pull them out if you need them beforehand, but make sure they go right back in.

I can’t tell you how many times this trick has helped us in those “we should pack this!” moments that are long forgotten if you don’t write it down or immediately pack it. This is what we do with our Enfalyte to make sure it goes with every time!

I’d love to know: what are your must-pack items when packing for a toddler for an all-inclusive trip?
