Want to celebrate this love-filled holiday without breaking the bank? Check out these Seven Inexpensive Ways to Celebrate Valentine's Day!

We don’t really tend to celebrate Valentine’s Day, but this year, we’re making some exceptions. I wanted to really enjoy more of the simple things life has to offer so one of my goals for this year is to celebrate holidays.

We’ll actually be out of state for the holiday itself, but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate while we’re on vacation or beforehand. Most of our money goes towards our tiny human now so we deciding to look into some fun, inexpensive ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day instead.

Inexpensive Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day

Make something

Handmade gifts are the perfect solution for inexpensive ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Homemade cookies or cakes, chocolate bars, a handmade card, Valentine’s Day tea or one of these many handmade gifts would be easy + sweet.

Put your feelings into writing

This could include a poem, a card, a letter, or even just post-it notes around the house. Talk about the first time you met, when you knew you loved them, or list the things you love about them. If you’re in need of some inspiration, check out this What I Love About You Journal.

Make something special for dinner

Dinner dates at fancy restaurants are nice, but they are so crowded and so expensive on Valentine’s Day. This is one of my favorite inexpensive ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day because you can make exactly what you want. And if you’re looking to save time, make it ahead of time so the holiday can be spent with each other instead! One great option is this Valentine’s Day Taco Bake.

Go somewhere

Take a walk in the park, have a picnic by a lake, or drive around and explore your city. Looking to do a bit more? Watch for special travel deals/discounts that hotels and resort offer as a part of a holiday package. Get even more ideas from Date Like a Ninja: 75 Kick-Awesome Date Ideas.

Have a mini staycation

Take a few days off and hang out at home with each other. Watch movies, look at photos of your travels, plan a new vacation, order your favorite take out, play games, etc. Just spending time with each other in the comfort of your own home can be relaxing enough! Give them a break

This is probably one of my favorite free or at least super inexpensive ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day as a mom. A little bit of me time goes a long way. Give your loved one some down time away from the kids or their daily responsibilities. Allow them time to treat themselves to something or just have some alone time in the home where they can do whatever they want while you handle the rest.

Offer a service

Hiring a maid or buying your loved one a massage is always a sweet gesture, but you can do quite a bit yourself! Tidy up, offer a massage, wash the car, repair something, do the laundry, wash the dishes, or offer something else that would help make life easier on your significant other. These chore coupons and considerate coupons are a fun way to offer these services, too!
